Decide what to automate
Human + AI Collaboration Framework
The Human + AI Collaboration Framework divides marketing work between what people must keep (strategy, judgment, brand, creativity, approval) and what AI does best (research, generation, analysis, variation, automation), and classifies each task as human-led, AI-assisted, AI-led with human review, or automated.

What each part means
- Human-led
- AI assists, but a person controls the process and makes every call. For strategy, positioning and sensitive communication.
- AI-assisted
- Person and AI work together: AI drafts, analyses or proposes, the person shapes and decides. For most content and research work.
- AI-led with human review
- AI performs most of the execution; a person validates before anything goes out. For volume work with moderate error cost.
- Automated
- The system executes under predefined controls: limits, logs, sampling checks and a switch-off. For stable, reversible, high-volume tasks.
How to use it
- Classify tasks, not tools: the same tool can be automated for one task and human-led for another.
- Move a task one mode at a time, and only after the previous mode has run without surprises.
- Write the controls down before you automate; the mode is defined by its controls, not by the technology.
Classify a task
