Turn brand guidelines into usable AI instructions
Convert a brand guideline PDF into testable writing and design instructions with approved examples, clear constraints and a controlled reference set.
Uploading a brand PDF does not ensure a model will apply it consistently. Guidelines often combine principles, examples and production rules without making their priority clear. Translate them into instructions that a writer or designer can test on a real task.
Extract the decision rules
Separate mandatory requirements from preferences. Record approved terminology, claim restrictions, tone, colors and visual references. Preserve exceptions and channel differences. A rule for a homepage hero may not apply unchanged to a support message or small social card.
Replace vague adjectives with examples
Show how confident differs from exaggerated, or approachable from overly familiar. Pair acceptable and unacceptable examples with a short reason. Adobe’s brand-intelligence announcement provides context for the move toward reusable brand knowledge. [1] The organization still needs to decide which examples represent its current standards.
Define conflict handling
Tell the workflow what to do when a campaign brief conflicts with a brand rule or when the source is missing. It should flag the issue and identify the relevant reference, rather than silently choose a convenient interpretation. Keep product and legal facts in their own approved sources.
Test and maintain the instruction set
Try several channels and unfamiliar briefs. Record reviewer corrections and update the guidance only after approval. Assign an owner and version date. A useful instruction set is a maintained operational resource, not a one-time extraction of every sentence in a PDF.
