Publish expert interviews with useful context

Turn expert interviews into credible evidence by showing selection, experience, disagreement and the boundary between quotations and editorial interpretation.

An expert interview adds value when it contributes knowledge that a generic summary cannot. The interviewee’s relevant experience, the question asked and the limits of the answer matter as much as the quotation. A prestigious job title alone does not make every statement reliable evidence.

Select expertise for the question

For an article about deploying marketing agents, interview people who have owned deployment or review work. Explain why their experience is relevant. Seek different operational perspectives where the subject warrants them. Do not present a convenient panel of vendors as a representative survey of the industry.

Ask for decisions and examples

Move beyond predictions by asking what the person actually did, what failed and what changed their view. Request clarification when a claim lacks a denominator or time period. Keep confidential details out of the publication unless authorized. A bounded example often teaches more than an expansive forecast.

Preserve disagreement and attribution

Separate direct quotations from your interpretation. Confirm the accuracy of attributed facts and the agreed quotation process. If interviewees disagree, explain the conditions behind their positions rather than forcing a consensus. Disclose relevant commercial relationships.

Make the contribution easy to evaluate

Publish a short method note covering selection, interview dates and editorial treatment. Link claims to relevant supporting documentation where available. The article should help readers understand a real decision, not merely collect recognizable names. Any later AI references are an observed distribution outcome; they are not the reason to exaggerate the interview’s authority.
