Marketing Operations Practical insights
Reduce the bottleneck in AI content review
Separate waiting time from editorial work and route AI marketing outputs to the right reviewers without weakening checks on claims or customer impact.
Producing drafts faster can move the bottleneck into review. Before adding more generation capacity, measure where work waits and why it returns for another pass. A crowded approval queue may reflect missing context rather than too few reviewers.
Trace a small set of real jobs
Record submission, first review, return, resubmission and acceptance times. Distinguish elapsed waiting from active review minutes. Compare similar deliverables so a legal campaign review is not judged against a simple internal summary. Note whether the brief was complete when the draft entered the queue.
Route work by the question to resolve
Send product claims to the relevant factual owner and language quality to an editor with the right market knowledge. Avoid requiring every specialist to reread every routine asset. Adobe’s brand-intelligence announcement describes using review feedback as reusable brand context. [1] Treat that as product direction; establish your own routing and responsibility rules.
Make the review package complete
Provide the approved brief, changed passages, supporting evidence and intended placement. In an illustrative campaign, a price change should be obvious without comparing several files manually. Return incomplete submissions with an explicit reason so the author can repair the cause.
Test whether the queue improves
Track accepted work, return rate, consequential errors and reviewer workload after changing the process. A faster queue is useful only if important checks still happen. Keep a route for unusual cases rather than forcing every job through the shortest path. The objective is to spend specialist attention on decisions that need it and remove avoidable searching, waiting and repeated interpretation.
