Marketing Operations Practical insights
Repair the handoffs in AI campaign production
Follow one campaign from approved brief to activation and make the required assets, decisions and status changes explicit at each team handoff.
A campaign can have excellent AI tools and still move slowly because nobody knows which version is approved or what the next team needs. Follow one campaign through the entire process to locate the handoffs where information becomes ambiguous.
Map the work as it actually happens
Record the brief, source facts, creative drafts, review decisions, localized assets and activated placements. Ask each receiving team what they routinely have to search for or clarify. Keep the actual process separate from the process described in a presentation.
Define a complete handoff
Agree what must travel with the work: campaign ID, approved version, market, intended channel and remaining exceptions. Adobe’s content-supply-chain announcement links planning, creation, review and activation as a product direction. [1] The practical operational question is whether the receiving team has enough information to proceed correctly.
Test one troublesome transition
Suppose creative delivers a revised image while media still holds an earlier price sheet. Create a handoff check that binds the approved asset to its offer version. Have the receiver acknowledge that specific package, rather than merely marking a task complete. Avoid relying on a filename such as ‘final-final’ to communicate approval.
Measure the missing work
Track clarification requests, returned packages and time waiting for a decision. Improve the transition causing the most repeated friction before replacing the entire tool stack. Keep a named owner for the campaign’s state and a visible route for unresolved disagreements. A reliable handoff allows each specialist to focus on their job while preserving the decisions already made upstream.
