CLEAR INFORMATION. INFORMED CHOICES.
Advertising & sponsorship policy
Rules for labelled commercial placements, claims and sponsor influence.
Recognisable commercial content
Advertising, paid features, newsletter sponsorships and sponsored directory positions must be recognisable as commercial before or as users encounter them. Use clear labels such as “Advertisement” or “Sponsored by [sponsor]”; “Partner” alone may not explain that a placement is paid. Labels must survive mobile layouts, previews and relevant social distribution.
Evidence and prohibited claims
Advertisers must substantiate objective claims and have rights to supplied materials. We do not accept fabricated reviews, undisclosed endorsements, unlawful discriminatory targeting, impersonation or unsupported guarantees of rankings, income or compliance. Repeating a sponsor’s claim does not remove our responsibility to assess how it is presented.
Separation from independent work
A sponsor may check factual descriptions of its own product, but cannot purchase undisclosed editorial conclusions or suppression of relevant findings. Research sponsorship must identify the sponsor, its role and any influence on scope. Sponsored placements must not be disguised as organic rankings. Use qualified commercial links and avoid selling links intended to manipulate search rankings.
Before a campaign starts
A separate written brief must settle deliverables, fees, timing, approval limits, labelling, data use and cancellation terms. Do not transfer reader lists, account datasets or tracking permissions merely because an advertiser pays. New ad technology needs a data-flow and consent assessment before activation. The partnership page is an invitation to discuss a brief, not an automatically accepted order.
Report a concern
Send the placement URL and concern to info@markaigen.com. We assess misleading claims, absent labels and rights complaints, and may correct, suspend or remove a placement where appropriate.
