Make AI thought leadership grounded in experience
Build distinctive AI assisted thought leadership around a real decision, documented evidence and a practical tradeoff rather than generic topic summaries.
Thought leadership becomes useful when it helps readers make a decision they could not make from a generic summary. Start with something the author actually observed, decided or learned. AI can organize the account, but it should not invent the experience that gives the article authority.
Find the decision worth explaining
Ask the author what they chose, which alternatives they considered and what changed their mind. A narrow operational decision can be more informative than a sweeping prediction. Preserve uncertainty and distinguish personal observation from a claim about the whole industry.
Assemble the supporting evidence
Use permissioned notes, actual process records and appropriate primary sources. Label illustrative examples clearly. Google’s people-first content guidance emphasizes useful, reliable information and clear evidence of relevant experience. [1] Adding a fabricated first-person story would undermine that purpose.
Use AI for editorial work
Ask for a clearer structure, missing reader questions and places where the argument jumps ahead of the evidence. Require the draft to preserve qualifications and mark unsupported statements. Have the author review every attributed experience and conclusion.
Leave the reader with a transferable lesson
Explain the conditions under which the approach may work, the tradeoff it creates and the signal that would justify a different choice. Avoid turning one success into a universal formula. Publish the real author’s role and relevant background, with a review date when changing details matter. The distinctive contribution is the reasoning readers can apply, not the presence of an opinionated headline.
