Assess Braze EU hosting before moving lifecycle data
Review Braze EU hosting through service scope, data flows, access and contracts, then test migration without assuming that residency guarantees compliance.
Braze announced European hosting on Google Cloud for BrazeAI Decisioning Studio in April 2026. [1] That is a specific infrastructure option, not evidence that every connected marketing service, integration or processing activity is confined to the EU. Assess the proposed architecture before deciding what the move achieves.
Confirm the scope in writing
Ask which contracted product, environment and data categories the option covers. Distinguish primary storage, backups, logs, inference, support access and disaster recovery. Confirm whether existing accounts require migration and which features or integrations behave differently. Do not extend a product announcement into an assurance about services that the announcement does not describe.
Trace the complete lifecycle flow
Map data from the source application through profile storage, decisioning, message delivery and reporting. Include exports to a warehouse, connected AI providers and operational support tools. Mark each party, processing purpose, location and retention arrangement. A European decisioning environment can still sit inside a wider workflow whose other components need separate assessment.
Review contractual and privacy responsibilities
Braze publishes a data processing addendum and subprocessor information for due diligence. [2] Compare the applicable agreement with the actual configuration, including access, deletion, incident handling and any international transfers. Ask the responsible legal and privacy specialists to assess lawful processing and required safeguards. The EDPB's AI guidance treats lawfulness as a contextual assessment; choosing a hosting region does not perform that assessment. [3]
Test the migration as a customer experience change
Reconcile profile counts, preferences, suppression records and scheduled journeys before resuming sends. Test delayed events and rollback, and avoid duplicating active campaigns across old and new environments. Record technical acceptance separately from privacy approval. The decision should state which requirement EU hosting addresses, what remains outside its scope and who owns each remaining action.
