GEO Practical insights
Fix conflicting brand facts before scaling GEO
Audit product names, capabilities and company details across your own channels so contradictory facts do not undermine buyer understanding or AI answers.
Conflicting brand facts create avoidable uncertainty. If a product page describes one capability while an old brochure promises another, customers and AI systems can encounter both. Before commissioning more GEO content, establish which claims are current and who owns them.
Create a fact register
List the facts that materially affect a purchase: product names, supported uses, integrations, markets and contact routes. Attach an authoritative source and an owner to each. Keep statements that require confirmation visibly unresolved. Do not choose the most flattering version simply because it appears in recent marketing copy.
Trace the contradictions
Search your maintained pages, downloadable documents and controlled profiles. In an illustrative software business, a retired integration might remain in a comparison PDF. Record the conflicting locations and their publication context. Third-party references belong in a separate follow-up list because you cannot directly control their wording.
Correct the source and the distribution process
Update the authoritative page first, then replace or annotate outdated material as appropriate. Preserve useful historical context when a document describes an earlier version. Give campaign teams a clear method for checking current facts before reusing them. A fact register fails if it is created once and then ignored.
Check comprehension after correction
Ask a reviewer to answer the affected customer question using only public material. If the answer remains ambiguous, improve the explanation rather than repeating the claim more often. Consistent facts do not guarantee favorable AI treatment, but they make your own information easier to trust and maintain. That is a stronger foundation than expanding a contradictory content library.
